1994 Stanley Cup Final: Rangers End 54-Year Drought

The Deciding Game 7

The 1994 Stanley Cup Final was a thrilling seven-game series between the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks. The Rangers, who had not won the Cup in 54 years, ultimately emerged victorious in game seven, claiming the long-awaited championship.

Highlights of Game 7

The deciding game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading goals throughout the contest. The Rangers eventually took the lead for good in the third period, and held on to win the game 4-3. Mark Messier, who had been acquired by the Rangers prior to the season, scored the game-winning goal. Brian Leetch, Adam Graves, and Stephane Matteau also scored for the Rangers.

For the Canucks, Trevor Linden, Pavel Bure, and Geoff Courtnall each scored a goal. However, it was not enough to overcome the Rangers' relentless attack. The victory gave the Rangers their fourth Stanley Cup championship, and ended the longest championship drought in NHL history.
