Rivian Gears Up to Electrify Amazon's Delivery Fleet
100,000 Electric Vehicles by 2030
Electric vehicle (EV) startup Rivian has reaffirmed its commitment to assist Amazon in placing 100,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2030. According to Amazon, over 10,000 of these vehicles have already been delivered.
Amazon's Ambitious Electrification Goals
Customers across the United States will soon witness Rivian's custom electric delivery vehicles transporting their Amazon purchases. In addition to placing the order for 100,000 custom electric delivery vehicles from Rivian, Amazon has included more than 15 different electric vehicle models in its fleet. However, Rivian is still operating at a loss.
Rivian Expands Fleet Access
In a significant move, Rivian announced on Tuesday that it will allow other companies to purchase its fleet of delivery vans, breaking away from its exclusive arrangement with Amazon. Rivian has yet to generate a profit, but this decision has the potential to accelerate its expansion and contribute to the wider adoption of electric vehicles.
